Don't marry a trade

"The market doesn't know you exist. You can do nothing to influence it. It was here before you were born and will be here after you're gone."
—Ed Seykota

"The first rule of trading-there are no certainties, only probabilities."
—Mark Douglas

"If you can't take a small loss, sooner or later you will take the mother of all losses."
—Van K. Tharp

"The market is never wrong-only opinions are."
—Jesse Livermore

"Trading is not about being right. It's about being profitable."
—Paul Tudor Jones
HODL, short for "hold on for dear life", is a Bitcoin mantra. It's buy and hold strategy with religious devotion to never sell.

Why problematic? You can marry a wife, but you don't marry a trade, because in trading the market doesn't care about your feelings.

A trade is a trade. And every trade must come with a clear exit signal. If the trade is against you, get out. If it's working, ride the trend, but always be ready to exit. Period.
