Forget what happens next (first-order thinking), second-order thinkers ask, "And then what?"
This type of thinking is essential when many actions have delayed or hidden consequences not immediately obvious.
First-order thinking: "Fast food is cheap and tastes good, so I'll eat it."
Second-order thinking: "If I keep eating fast food, my health will deteriorate, and medical bills will pile up."
